BRIEF RÉSUMÉ


EDUCATION - Ivan Norscia (Italian biologist register # 058832) graduated in Biological Science in 2002, cum laude, at the University of Pisa. In 2006, at the same University, he completed a PhD program in Evolutionary Biology.

ACTIVITIES AND SKILLS - Since 2001 he has been performing scientific research on ecology, behavior and conservation of Malagasy primates in the wild. By working more than 1 year in Madagascar he also developed skills in cooperation. Since 2005 he collaborates with the Museum of Natural History (University of Pisa), in the fields of scientific projects, research, and education. He obtained two grants (spanning 2006-2008) by the University of Pisa for designing and realizing educational projects for disabled people. During the first period he contributed to the realization of a “tactile hall” reproducing different environments typical of Tuscany and funded by public and non-public institutions.. The hall is designed to be used by blind people, who can touch animal and plant reproductions and hear natural sounds. Over the years, he has also been tutor for Master and PhD students. Since 2006 he collaborates with the I.S.T.I. (National Council of Research, branch of Pisa) in the field of scientific content accessibility to disabled people. Up to date he has published many scientific/educational papers, and press releases in the field of ecology, ethology, conservation, ethnobotany, and museology. Since 2008 international cooperation projects (involving Sri-Lanka, Madagascar) constitutes one of his main fields of activity.
He is fluent in English (certified by the Cambridge University), French (certified by the French Ministery of Education), and Spanish. He also has advanced computer skills, which also include the use of statistic softwares (STATISTICA, SPSS, Statxact, Matman, resempling Procedures), the knowledge of the xhtml language to create accessible web-sites. In 2005 he obtained the E.C.D.L. (European Computer Driving Licence). (Should we also mention the car driving licence?)
